Can I order a grinder without a burr set?
No. Every Z1 and Z2 ships with a burr set installed. We use that set to test your grinder and confirm precision alignment before it leaves our shop. A burr set is part of our quality check and cannot be removed from an order.
If you already own burrs, pick a set that adds something new to your lineup. See Choosing Burrs for Your Z1 or Choosing Burrs for Your Z2.
Can my Z1 ship with the Slow Feed auger installed?
Every Z1 ships with the stainless steel Medium Feed auger installed. If you add the Slow Feed auger, it comes in the box, and you can swap it in with the tools from your kit. See Changing the Auger on Your Z1.
The Z2 ships with its stainless steel slow feed auger installed as standard.
Do I need a wood accent piece?
Yes. The accent piece protects the front zero point screw and the adjustment assembly, so it should always be on your grinder.
What will my Olive wood accent piece look like?
Olive wood varies more than any other wood we use. Its color can range from light and golden to deep brown, and the grain changes with the cut, the age of the tree, and the natural oils in each piece. Even two pieces from the same batch can look very different.
Because every piece is one of a kind, we cannot exchange accent pieces for grain or color.
Can I buy an extra or replacement accent piece?
Yes! Accent pieces are sold on their own on our website, so you can order one like any other accessory: Z2 Accent Piece or Z1 Accent Piece. Choose your wood on the product page.
If you are hoping for an Olive wood piece with lots of grain, let us know once your order is placed and we will add a note to your order. Every piece is one of a kind, and we will do our best to pick one with as much grain as possible.
What colors are available?
The Zerno Z1 and Z2 come in Jet Black or Soft White. If we ever offer alternate colors, new options would be announced in our newsletters first.
