The Magnetic Portafilter Holder sits under the chute and holds your portafilter in place so you can grind straight into the basket. It fits most portafilters, but not every one.
Which portafilters fit
The holder is designed around standard 58mm portafilters with two lugs at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions. Most E61-style 58mm portafilters seat properly.
The best way to check is to measure the outside diameter of your portafilter body just below the two lugs. Portafilters that measure under 71mm at that point fit best.
Known exceptions
Rocket portafilters: their thicker bodies do not seat in the holder.
Pesado portafilters: their steeply angled handles do not sit level.
Rancilio portafilters: their thicker bodies do not seat in the holder.
Getting a good fit
- Line the lugs up with the openings at 3 and 9 o'clock.
- Lower the portafilter straight down until the basket sits flat.
- Check that the handle points straight out and the portafilter does not rock.
- Use a dosing funnel to reduce any grounds escaping the basket.
