Choose the Z1 if
You want a compact grinder with a simple workflow. The 64mm platform also has more burr options for espresso and pour over, and they cost less due to less machining.
Choose the Z2 if
You want one grinder with the most room to grow. The larger 80mm burrs create less heat while grinding, which helps preserve the coffee's flavor, and give a tighter particle distribution for brighter, clearer cups. Variable RPM, purge mode, and the chute knocker give you more control over grind speed, flavor, and mouthfeel.
Our take
You cannot go wrong with either. The Z1 produces exceptional coffee, and it is a fantastic choice if simplicity matters most to you. For the best possible experience today, we point most people to the Z2.
