Quick guide
Launch Edition (2021 to 2022): high speed auger, burr carrier for traditional three-screw burrs, powder-coated wide-spout magnetic chute, aluminum dosing cup with the Zerno logo.
Version 2.0 (late 2023): medium feed auger, magnetic chute with a 3D printed insert, an ionizer near the spout, blind burr compatible carrier held by magnets and set screws, magnetic burr removal tools, user-replaceable power cord, magnetic dosing cup.
Version 2.1 (late 2023 to early 2024): medium feed auger with teeth, burr carrier with stronger magnets and no set screws, stand with a flush inlaid magnet, anodized single piece chute (the ionizer was retired because this chute performed better), stainless back plate, and the stainless funnel cap.
Version 2.2 (late 2024 to 2025): slow feed auger option, Wera Kraftform tools, anti-retention dosing cup, and a larger funnel cap that also fits the dosing cup.
Version 2.3 (late 2025 to 2026): stainless steel internals, black anodized components, stronger stainless burr pull tools, and a refined, quieter motor.
Common questions
My burr carrier has threaded holes but no screws. Newer carriers (~SN #600+) use stronger magnets to hold the burrs, so those screws are no longer needed.
Can I upgrade my older Z1? Most upgrades are designed to fit older grinders, including augers, chutes, burr pull tools, and stainless internals. The tools in an older video look different from mine. Newer grinders ship with upgraded Wera tools, which replaced the earlier screwdrivers. We highly recommend using the Wera tools from your kit for better performance.
