A whooshing or airy sound at higher RPM. Totally normal. The triangular wipers in the grind chamber move air to create a little pressure that pushes fines out more efficiently. The front cover and funnel cap quiet it down. With the funnel cap off, it can also sound like a low-pitched hum at higher RPM. That is the same harmless airflow from the wipers, not a problem with the motor.
Coffee in the grinder when I unboxed it. Every Z2 is tested with about 20 grams of coffee before it ships. Run a few grams through before your first real dose.
The zero on the dial was not exactly at 0. We zero every Z2 at burr chirp before shipping. There is no lock at zero, so the dial can move past it. Verify with Setting the Zero Point on Your Z2.
Marks on my new burrs. Small marks from the rack the burrs sit on while being coated at the burr manufacturer. They do not affect performance.
The power switch looks slightly tilted. Our industrial switches have a small amount of variation within the manufacturer's spec. It does not affect function. If it bothers you, please contact support at info@zerno.co.
The wood accent feels a little rough near the edge. Where the face grain meets the end grain, wood fibers do not always lie perfectly flat. A light sanding with 800 to 1200 grit sandpaper and a light coat of wood oil (we use Odie's Oil) will smooth it. Every piece of wood has its own grain and character.
The funnel O-ring is sticking out. Press one section into the groove with one finger and work your way around with the other hand. There is a spare O-ring in your service kit.
A temporary imprint on the body. From the shipping foam. Wipe with a damp microfiber towel. If the marks are still present, we recommend a Magic Eraser as the next step.
It turned off by itself. The Z2 shuts off after 10 minutes on without grinding. Switch it OFF and back ON. See Troubleshooting: Z2 Stopped, Stalled, or Shut Off.
My dosing cup or shaker will not seat under the chute. See Troubleshooting: Dosing Cup or Shaker Not Seating on the Z2 (Magnet Polarity).
Does opening the grinder myself void the warranty? No. Maintenance in our guides does not void your warranty.
