Lost a screw while cleaning, or want a spare on hand? Here are the standard screws used on the Zerno Z1, with the exact size and the tool that fits each one. This list is for the Z1 only. The Z2 uses different hardware.
Z1 screw sizes
| Screw | How many | Size and type | Tool | Example part |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Center dial screw (under the front accent piece, used when setting zero) | 1 | M4 x 8 mm flat head (countersunk) hex screw | 2.5 mm hex driver | McMaster 91304A111 |
| Front assembly screws (9 and 3 o'clock on the front) | 2 | M3 x 40 mm socket head cap screw, stainless steel | 2.5 mm hex driver | McMaster 91292A024 |
| Auger screws (back of the auger assembly) | 3 | M3 x 10 mm flat head (countersunk) hex screw, stainless steel | 2 mm hex key | McMaster 92125A130 |
| Back plate screws (rear housing) | 2 | M5 x 12 mm flat head (countersunk) hex screw, stainless steel | 3 mm hex key | McMaster 92125A210 |
| Traditional burr screws (for traditional-mount burrs only) | 6 (3 per burr) | M5 x 8 mm slotted cheese head screw, stainless steel (DIN 84) | Flathead screwdriver | Accu SFE-M5-8-A2 |
These are all standard metric sizes, so most local hardware stores carry them. The part links above are examples of the exact screws we use.
Can Zerno send me a replacement?
Yes. We are happy to send a replacement screw for a small cost. Shipping is paid by the customer, though, and it usually costs more than picking the screw up locally. If you would still like us to send one, reach out to info@zerno.co with the screw you need (a photo helps) and your shipping address.
Good to know
Do not overtighten. Snug is enough, especially for the center dial screw and the front assembly screws.
Empty Radial screw holes in the burr carrier? Newer Z1 burr carriers hold the burrs with stronger magnets, so those set screws are no longer needed. If your grinder arrived without them, that is intentional.
Blind burrs do not use burr screws. The six burr screws are only for traditional-mount burrs.
