Lost a screw while cleaning, or want a spare on hand? Here are the standard screws used on the Zerno Z2, with the exact size and the tool that fits each one. This list is for the Z2 only. The Z1 uses different hardware.
Z2 screw sizes
| Screw | How many | Size and type | Tool | Example part |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Center dial screw (center of the dial, used when setting zero) | 1 | M4 x 8 mm flat head (countersunk) hex screw | 2.5 mm hex driver | McMaster 91304A111 |
| Front assembly screws (9 and 3 o'clock on the front) | 2 | M3 x 50 mm socket head cap screw, stainless steel | 2.5 mm hex driver | McMaster 91292A026 |
| Back plate screws | 3 | M3 x 10 mm flat head (countersunk) hex screw, stainless steel | 2 mm hex key | McMaster 92125A130 |
These are all standard metric sizes, so most local hardware stores carry them. The part links above are examples of the exact screws we use. Your service kit already includes the traditional burr screws and blind burr pins for swapping burr styles.
Can Zerno send me a replacement?
Yes. We are happy to send a replacement screw for a small cost. Shipping is paid by the customer, though, and it usually costs more than picking the screw up locally. If you would still like us to send one, reach out to info@zerno.co with the screw you need (a photo helps) and your shipping address.
Good to know
Do not overtighten. Snug is enough. For the front assembly screws we recommend about 1 Nm; a torque driver is not required.
Dial feels loose or drifts on its own? The adjustment assembly is lubricated with a damping grease that keeps your grind setting steady. If your dial is drifting, reach out to info@zerno.co and we will help you sort it out.
